A Sandstone Transport Pipe is a simple pipe used to transport items.
Sandstone Transport Pipes are able to connect to any type of pipe, including Stone and Cobblestone Transport Pipes. However, they will not connect to any type of machine or chest. This mechanic allows to build more compact transport systems. Also, they can be used as a cheap pipe to connect a stone transport pipe with a cobblestone one, should you choose to.
Sandstone pipes can be made waterproof, but not conductive.
