Niter (not to be confused with Nitor from Thaumcraft) is a byproduct of pulverizing Sandstone or Saltpeter Ore in the Pulverizer from Thermal Expansion at a 10% chance for each item processed (15% for Saltpeter Ore). It can be used to create Gunpowder or can be further pulverized to create Saltpeter from Factorization.
