The Electric Wrench is an electric tool from IndustrialCraft 2. It works the same as the IndustrialCraft Wrench, but instead of taking wear and tear with use, it uses EU. Thus, it will never wear out, similarly to Mining Drills.

It can be charged in BatBoxes and other storage devices, as well as by RE Batteries. Remember to switch to another item before clicking on your energy storage device or you may accidentally wrench it, losing all that precious EU!

Electric Wrench Modes[]

The Electric Wrench has two modes. Switch through modes by holding down M and right-clicking.

  • Lossless Mode Disabled: Low power usage, same chance to break machines as using a Wrench (80% chance of retaining the block).
  • Lossless Mode Enabled: High power usage, with a 0% chance to break machines. Wearing of a charged BatPack or LapPack is advised.

Warning: The default keybinding of 'M' conflicts with other items in the mod-pack. Press ESC and go to the 'Controls' screen to rebind the 'Mode' key (',' works fine).

Notes[]

Whenever any type of Wrench is used to remove a machine on a server, an entry is added to the server.log file detailing the username of the player who used it and the coordinates and blocktype of the block that was removed, this can be particularly useful for placing the blame in the event that a valuable machine is stolen.

As of recent versions of Gregtech (present in v0.8 of the wgt1.5.2 beta pack), Electric Wrenches can not be configured, instead they will automatically consume a large amount of Power to prevent the loss of a machine.

The wrench requirement for picking up a block can be disabled in by setting ignoreWrenchRequirement from true to false in the IC2.ini located in the config folder of the game install.
