The chunk loader is very useful. It keeps chunks of the world loaded even when a player is far enough away that the chunk should unload. This will allow crops to grow, machines to work, and other things to function (even across dimensions). Note: Applying a redstone signal will cause it to not function. Does not work in single player when not playing.
Uses[]
This block can be used to pump lava from the nether or mystcraft ages. It can also be a great way to load the base or other machines.
Editing the Chunkloading[]
Right clicking on the block will bring up its GUI.
In this GUI you can adjust how many chunks will be loaded. To visually see this you can click Show Lasers, this will show red lines to help you visualize how many chunks are loaded. The Lasers will disappear when you get too far away from the Chunk Loader.

Warning[]
[only 1.5.2]
When using an Ender tank and a chunk loader in the same chunk (16x16), the chunk can be reset and you will lose everything that was in that chunk.
Possible fix:
- Have a chunk loader in a chunk next to it, but increase the size of chunk loading to include the nearby chunks (Use NEI's F7 & F10 modes).
- Use a liquid tesseract.
- It loads the chunks
