The Buffer has 5 input sides that each has its own storage compartment. The Buffer will only accept items from the sides where it would fit into that side's compartment. The player can click on it to open up all of the compartments and use it as a Chest, or he/she can send items to it with tubes or pipes.
This can be used when the player wants different items to be stored in one place. For example, a player can have a Buffer next to an Autocrafting Table, which needs different types of items next to it to work, and use Filters to determine which items can go to which sides of the Buffer. If the player would have used a Chest instead it could have been filled up with only one type of the items leaving no room for the other needed types.
The buffer is used to create the Regulator, Ejector and the Relay.
