Basalt is a stone that forms Volcanoes. Currently the only use for Basalt is blast resistance and decoration. When mined with a pickaxe, it drops a block of Basalt Cobblestone, which can be smelted back into Basalt. This pure Basalt can be crafted into Basalt Bricks.

With GregTech installed you can grind basalt in a Macerator to get Basalt Dust.

One way to farm Basalt is to use a Thermopile, as it has a chance to turn an adjacent flowing lava block into Basalt under proper conditions.
